Volunteer

Apply online now to become a CIUT volunteer!

Volunteers are the fuel in our motor and CIUT couldn’t go on without you! We are constantly on the lookout for new talent and people with radio enthusiasms. Since we’re always up to new things, our volunteer needs are constantly changing.

Perks of being a volunteer

Volunteering at CIUT is a great opportunity to develop technical skills, on-air production values, insight into the inner-workings of broadcasting media, and to contribute to exciting and creative projects. Volunteers are trained to use CIUT on-air facilities, production software, and digital recording devices, and to work in the administrative, marketing and fundraising departments.

Interested? Simply fill out an application online. All potential volunteers will be required to attend a one-hour orientation session.

Please note that there is a nominal administration fee (currently set at $5) due on an annual basis to keep a current volunteer status at the station.

Student Co-op Placements:

CIUT hires exceptional high school co-op students throughout the year. A CIUT co-op placement is a challenging and invaluable introduction to the world of radio. In addition to learning the fundamentals of live broadcasting, students add essential administrative, interpersonal and computer skills to their resumes.

CIUT co-ops leave with an expanded musical knowledge, a pre-recorded show, memories of fun and frantic hours playing music on air and a network of contacts to help guide them along an exciting career path. To inquire about a co-op placement at CIUT, call 416-978-0909 ext. 208. Apply early as spaces fill up fast!

Bridge to Broadcasting

Bridge to Broadcasting is a unique program that gives students and community volunteers a rare opportunity to get hands-on experience in the competitive media sector. At CIUT’s professionally equipped multi-studio broadcast centre participants produce Take 5, a news/current affairs/live music show broadcast throughout the GTA and south-central Ontario. As part the Take 5 team Bridge to Broadcasting participants learn and take part in news writing and reading, researching, interviewing, street reporting, chase producing, broadcast board operations, music producing and floor directing. Paid Positions

We rarely hire paid staff so sending us your resume unsolicited will likely only end in heartache. We do, however, hire for short-term contract positions from time to time. When we do, a notice will be placed here and an announcement made in our monthly e-newsletter and on air.
